Dendrobites

Orchids she sent me, on my desk at work.
& I love coming in to find my space –
gray like old lustreless paperclips,
flat with stale office air –
dendrited,
coral-branched,
erupted into by those flowers,
like a silence sudden-colored
with a spray of piano arpeggios.
