Song: C. Way, “Retrato Brasileiro” (composer: Baden Powell)

  April 24th, 2011

I wanted to share with everyone a piece I recorded by composer Baden Powell (1937-2000) entitled “Retrato Brasileiro” (Brazilian Portrait). A beautiful composition, and I hope you enjoy my attempt to do it some justice.

So lovely. This has me watching the waves on a Brazilian beach with my feet buried in soft sand, and a caipirinha in my hand. And right about at 1:15 the breeze carries the scent of grilled meat toward me, and a man with a Brazilian accent calls to me that dinner is ready. Then it ends and I’m back in my cube in Jersey, and really hungry.

Lovely music + thoughts of beach and Brazilian men with grilled meat = happy me.

Thanks Dori… I am psyched as hell that my version of Powell’s piece managed to evoke grilled meats and breezy times and beaches and Brazil Dudes!! Yayy!!!!!
